Bullying in schools is a global phenomenon that has the potential to impact on children not only physically but also psychologically. In South Africa countless children fall victim to bullying, harassment and abuse in school.

The Star for Life coaches at Alafang Secondary school in Johannesburg South, called for a collective action from members of the school and parents to prioritise the safety of children at school.

Many children don’t report bullying because of the fear of being labelled and called weak. The coach made it easy for pupils to report by creating a box where learners can write their information of how the coach can identify each child.

There is an urgent need to deal with bullying in schools to protect pupils mental health.
