Strong girls and independent women

Daughters of Africa

In southern Africa, far too many girls are born into a life of discrimination, prejudice, lack of knowledge and poverty. Through Star for Life’s special initiative Daughters of Africa Girls Glub, we focus on the particular situation of girls. In safe rooms and through special workshops run by our coaches, the girls can familiarise themselves with issues around health, sexuality, consent, gender-based violence, equality and entrepreneurship. The goal is a new generation of strong and independent women.

Listen to Zimbili

In this film , you meet Zimbili, a South African girl who, through Star for Life’s Daughters of Africa Girls Club, got a taste for entrepreneurship. Through a small family business, she manufactures and sells traditional beadwork, allowing her to become an independent woman who can support herself. So, dreams come true.
