Star for Life Insamlingsstiftelse
Star for Life Insamlingsstiftelse
Star for Life Insamlingsstiftelse was founded in 2005 by Swedish entrepreneurs Christin and Dan Olofsson, with the aim of reducing HIV transmission and increasing awareness among youth in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
Since then, the programme has deepened and expanded – reaching over 540,000 students. While teachers focus on academics, Star for Life coaches are present in classrooms and nurses staff our mobile health clinics, working to strengthen students’ self-esteem, aspirations, academic results, and health.
The Swedish Star for Life Insamlingsstiftelse exists to raise funds in Sweden and enable the work carried out in our programme countries.
Our projects
At Star for Life, we design and implement projects that create lasting change in the lives of young people and their communities.
Girls Clubs
South Africa & namibia
Too many girls grow up facing poverty, stigma, abuse, and gender-based violence. Through our Girls Clubs, Star for Life creates safe spaces where girls can learn, grow, and speak freely about empowerment, bodily integrity, consent, health, and entrepreneurship. Our goal is to raise a new generation of strong and independent women.
Boys Clubs
South Africa
Through our Boys Clubs, Star for Life supports young men in choosing education, self-worth, and positive life paths. Participants learn about mental and emotional health, respect, healthy masculinities, and consent, while receiving guidance to pursue their goals. Our goal is to shape responsible, confident, and gender-equal men.
Our work
To ensure that Star for Life’s school programme creates real and lasting impact, we continuously monitor and evaluate our work and share the results with our partners. This work is led by our Research Director, doctor Per Strand, PhD.
