Star for Life North Macedonia

In 2026, Star for Life launched a three-year pilot project in the Republic of North Macedonia to promote sustainable and holistic school development.

Over the course of the pilot, Star for Life will implement our flagship Holistic School Program at two primary schools in the greater Skopje area, with a combined enrollment of approximately 1,160 students in grades 1 to 9, and 130 staff. The pilot project will engage all school staff while specifically targeting students in grades 4 to 6 (ages 10-12).

The Star for Life Holistic School Program is a preventive, evidence-based social-emotional learning initiative designed to strengthen students’ psychosocial well-being, motivation, and academic performance. At the same time, it fosters inclusive learning environments characterized by respectful relationships, active participation, and authentic collaboration.

The program is aligned with the guiding documents and overarching objectives of the national education system. Its methodology is grounded in the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with particular emphasis on Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Our Work in North Macedonia

By fostering a holistic approach to education, we will empower young people to learn and practice the skills needed to achieve academic success, fulfilling careers, healthy relationships, and responsible civic engagement. Through our work, we will also strengthen the capacity of educators and school leadership to create engaging and inclusive learning environments characterized by trusting and collaborative relationships, rigorous and meaningful curriculum and instruction, and ongoing evaluation.
