When it comes to the global entrepreneurial landscape, women are still in the minority. The Daughters of Africa project coaches girls in entrepreneurship.

More than half of South Africa’s population is female but only 34% of small and medium sized enterprises are led by women. A study from the University of Namibia revealed that lack of entrepreneurial, financial and marketing skills were among the major challenges faced by young women in Namibia.

In South Africa and Namibia we run the Daughters of Africa project, where coaching young girls in entrepreneurship is one of our objectives. Investing in young women’s economic empowerment and skills development is one of the most urgent and effective means to drive progress on gender equality, poverty eradication and inclusive economic growth.

If we want a future where women know their power and can create jobs for themselves, we need to teach them entrepreneurship from an early age.

Through the Daughters of Africa project, Star for Life aims to contribute to the economic empowerment of young women.
