Emadwaleni High School

Siphosabadletshe High School

Welcome to our school!

The school was established in 1990 by members of the community, with no funding from the government. It started with just 2 classes. In 1995, the school had its first group of Grade 12’s, and through the leadership of the then principal, Mr L.B Nxumalo, the school achieved a 100% pass rate.

The school is situated in a very poor area, and for a long time, our community has been known for having a high rate of people infected with HIV/Aids. Due to the implementation of the Star for Life programme, there has been a big decrease in the rate of infected learners in the school.

Facts about the school

  • 1168 learners
  • 39 educators
  • It is the first school in which the Star For Life programme was
    implemented

”For years our community has been known for having a high rate of people infected with HIV, but through the partnerhip with Star for Life in the school, our learners have been better educated about this disease, which has resulted in a decrease in the number of people affected by HIV/Aids in the community.”
