Peer educators, they serve as role models for change and can communicate and understand in a way that the best-intentioned adult can’t. Three days All Girls Peer Education and Camp from all Johannesburg schools was held at Magaliesburg Lodge recently.
This is a rewarding opportunity for young people to develop their leadership skills, improves their knowledge and gain the respect of their peers, also create a fulfilling relationship between teachers and learners. In all three days, learners were thought different kinds of skills, how to raise awareness, provide accurate information and how to help their classmate develop skills to change their behavior.
Team building stimulating games were played to teach learners to listen with their ears not eyes, also gave a girl child a platform to talk about their sexuality without being stigmatized as sexually promiscuous. This three-day camp showed a great gain of information, motivation and behavioral skills.
