Make a difference – one step at a time!
Star for Life Dream Challenge is a virtual charity race that starts on April 6 and continues through May and June. The route goes from Stockholm and Oslo, down through Europe and Africa – all the way to Hluhluwe in South Africa. From there we are heading back to Scandinavia.

Dream Challenge is 30 000 km long and runs through 28 countries!
Walk, run or cycle – by adding our kilometres together we’ll support young people in southern Africa.

Can schools participate?

Yes, we’d love you to join Dream Challenge. Organise your own event at school and make it a day when everyone can join in and get moving, together for others! Run, walk or cycle – it’s up to you!

10 km equals SEK 200 which covers the cost of a pupil’s participation in the Star for Life programme in South Africa or Namibia for an entire year.

How does it work?

Measure out a track in the schoolyard or in a park, about 500 metres, depending on the grade. The goal is for everyone to run as many laps as possible. Pupils find sponsors in advance, such as family, friends or a local company, who commit to pay a certain amount for each completed lap.

After the race, the pupils sum up their laps and collect the promised amounts from their sponsors.

In advance

Choose a date in April or May and decide which classes will take part. Distribute the attached sponsor form to the pupils in advance.

They now have a couple of weeks to get as many sponsors as possible. Every little helps!

The Dream Challenge day

Turn the event into a party with some good music and serve hot dogs or ice cream. Or make it a contest. Perhaps a prize for the one with the craziest costume? Who can collect the most sponsors or which class gets the most money?

On event day

Pupils hand in their forms to their teacher on race day. Students run or walk as many laps as they can within a given time. Volunteers are responsible for counting laps for each pupil.

Add up

When time is up, write the number of laps on each pupil’s form. Later, you can easily calculate how much money each pupil has earned. Make copies of the forms and return them to the pupils, whose job it is to get each sponsor to swish in their contribution to the school or to a responsible teacher (please set a deadline for this).

After the race

When all the money has come in, you can either swish to Star for Life on 900 1611 or pay it into our bankgiro account 900-1611. When the money has reached us, we will add your total distance to our digital map on Star for Life’s website – 10 km for every SEK 200 you collect.

Your school will also receive a thank you on our website.
