To play our part during #ChildProtectionWeek, Star for Life (SFL) held an engaging child protection Campaign at Makhasa Sports ground on the 31st of May. The day started with a 5km walk from the main road to Makhasa Sports ground, inviting all community members to join hands with SFL in ending child abuse.
National child protection week is observed in South Africa annually to raise awareness on the rights of children, because every child has the right to be protected from maltreatment, neglect, abuse and/or degradation
It is every citizen’s duty to play a vital role in protecting children and creating a safe and secure environment for them.
The main purpose of this campaign is to mobilize all sectors of society to ensure that children are cared for and protected.
The campaign also raised awareness on substance abuse and crime. Parents were also informed about the importance of NOT being an accomplice to a crime, whereby the child reports and as parents, you sweep the information under the carpet.
During the campaign, our Mobile Health Unit, with the assistance of the local clinic, offered screenings and HIV testing services.
We would like to thank all stakeholders present for their partnership and dedication in making sure that the day was a success.
