13 Primary schools participated in this year’s Star for Life Primary Schools Arts festival, which was held at Phumlani hall in Hluhluwe.
The theme of the festival was “let’s celebrate our identity”, with the aim of creating a platform where our young stars can celebrate their cultural diversity and showcase their talents. The festival promotes and boosts self-esteem and confidence through arts, it awakens the imagination and inspires passion for arts in young people from different social and cultural backgrounds. It also improves awareness in schools, regarding challenges faced by learners.
On the day, learners competed in four categories: Poetry, Role-play, visual arts and dance.
At the end of the festival, every school was awarded a trophy and certificate of participation, and winners of the day, S.H Gumede Primary School, received a trophy for best overall performance.
